Orchami Babyloniorum Regis filia, cuius amore captus Apollo, in Eurynomes (ea Leucothoes mater erat) figuram fe transformavit, et tamquam secreto aliquid cum filia colloqui vellet, famulas, quibus comitata erat, secerere iussit. Deinde pristinae formae restitutus, professus quis esset, post multas blanditias, non admodum invitae vim intulit. Quod cum rescivisset Clytie, quae mutuo Apollinis amore tenebatur, zelotypiae stimulis exagitata, Orchamo Regi filiae amores enuntiavit, qui ut naturâ crudelis erat, filiam vivam defodit. Cuius mortem aegerrime ferens Apollo, cum vitae eam restituere non potuisset, in virgam thuream eam commutavit. Ovid. Met. l. 4. v. 196. et 220.
